JERK CHICKEN AT LAGOS BISTRO

This post is two weeks late and I’m terribly sorry for the delay. I’ve had a lot happening at the same time and for a minute I didn’t get the time to post. My apologies!
Now to Lagos Bistro! When I first heard the name, I thought they were in Lagos (an obvious mistake 🙄) but by the time I checked their IG I discovered they actually are in Abuja!
For someone that moved from Lagos to Abuja, I was totally curious to know if they got at least 80% of the Lagos vibes. Stay with me on this….

I literally walked into Lagos no jokes. From the “eko” song that was playing, to the yellow “danfos” to the “keke napep” down to the Lagos traffic comics they had displayed on the tables! Did I mention the “danfos” had light shining through them? You get the picture now don’t you?

The security at the gate greeted us with smiles, and the waiter that took our order was so cheerful. They did great in that selection. While we sitted and scanned through the menu, we got served slices of pizza (unfortunately I didn’t take pictures of the pizza cause it was looking so juicy and I was starved) to taste cause they plan on adding pizza on their menu! And boy o boy was that the best pizza I’ve had in Nigeria or what! I’ll definitely go back when they introduce it on the menu.
The waiter took our orders, and while we waited for our food we got served sweet yummy puff puff (don’t ask me for pictures please, I was starved 🙄). The puff puff was amazing I promise.
Did they get up to the 80%? You guessed right.

I had the Jerk Chicken and coconut & pineapple juice, while Owo had the Spaghetti Bolognese with water.

Jerk Chicken || N3,500

The jerk chicken consists of jerk chicken, mixed salad, fried plantain, shito and choice of side ( I chose the special fried rice). Unfortunately, when my food got served I didn’t see the shito, it totally skipped my mind to ask the waiter till I was in my taxify ride back home 🤦🏽‍♀️. Was it a mistake? I have no idea but…. The fried rice was perfection though, with chunks of chicken in it and fried egg! The jerk chicken won my soul the moment I had the first bite, I could taste the cinnamon flavor in it! I’m a big time cinnamon lover so that sold it for me. The salad was just basic and the plantain was just how I love it, almost ripe but not unripe. Did I mention they’re quite generous with their portion size? Yep.

Spaghetti Bolognese || N2,800

This had minced meat, tomatoes, sauce, spinach, Parmesan cheese, etc. Owo had this, but I tasted it (how else will I write about it y’all ?!). Yeah, so I tasted it and it was actually tasty. Unfortunately, the pasta was too dry for my liking.

Coconut & Pineapple Juice || N1,200

This juice didn’t do it for me at all. For that price, they didn’t put in any efforts in making it. And I kept asking why I wasn’t getting the taste of the coconut. If I wanted a plain pineapple juice I would have gotten it, but I’m a coconut lover so give me my coconut taste! The juice tasted like plain pineapple juice, no taste of the coconut in it and it wasn’t settled. Like, I kept stirring it before every sip and it was totally stressful for this lazy girl. I’ll try the parfait when next I eat there.
