Tar Tar Abuja is one of the newest restaurants in the capital. With their cocktails as their selling point, they also offer grilled foods and platters.
Walking into Tar Tar Abuja, the first thing that caught my attention was their bar. It was simple yet beautiful. Then the next thing that caught my attention was their famous face backdrop -if you’re on Instagram it should have popped on your timeline a few times. Their interior decor isn’t all that, as they paid more attention to the bar and the outdoor sitting area than they did for the inside space.

The menu at Tar Tar Abuja had over four slides for drinks and cocktails and just one slide for food -as I stated earlier, they offer more cocktails and drinks. The food menu offers grills and platters.

I and a few food bloggers went for the soft opening at Tar Tar and it was quite the experience. We waited over an hour and thirty minutes before our food was finally served. And as it was the soft opening, we expected the owner or manager or anyone to ask about our experience or find out if we had suggestions or anything but nothing. The owner was sitting not far from us and we expected better.
Back to the food -we had the Tar Tar special platter, oriental rice, yam chips, grilled goat, virgin strawberry daiquiri, blueberry mojito, lemonade, Chapman, and water.
Tar Tar special platter -N15,250
This platter consisted of 2 prawns, 2 roasted corn, goat meat, chicken, 2 chicken spring rolls, potato wedges, and plantain.
We were disappointed when this platter was served. The portions were pretty small and the platter was overpriced. I’ll suggest the find a balance -increase portions or reduce the price.
The oriental rice -N1,500
This rice was delicious. We agreed it was one of the best things they served.

Yam chips -N1000
This was served without a sauce, we had to ask for pepper sauce to eat the yam. They should work on a sauce for their sides.
Grilled goat meat -N3,500
This was more peppered goat meat than it was grilled. It was loaded with ginger and garlic and it was more bones than meat. Was quite disappointing cause I looked forward to the goat meat.
Their cocktails were okay, but having their small Nestle bottled water sold at N1,000? That didn’t sit right with me. As I said, it was quite the experience.

Service – Fair
The service at Tar Tar Abuja was fair, as we kept reminding them to bring something and it took them a long time to serve us.
Ambiance – Lovely

The ambiance was lovely, especially the bar and outdoor sitting area.
